Glacier Point Trail

Yosemite National Park, CA
Share review on:

Thanks! How would you describe the trail and it's activities?

Glacier Point Trail is a 0.4 mile out and back trail located near Yosemite National Park, California that features a waterfall and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible from May until October.

Glacier Point has a large parking lot, but despite this it can be difficult to find a parking place. This site is very popular. Its better to take the bus from the lodge in Yosemite Valley.

There is a gift shop, snack bar, and public restrooms at the site.

Went with a huge group which included young children, older adults and a special needs individual. It was perfect opportunity for all of us with differing abilities to experience what makes Yosemite so... Yosemite!

The views from Glacier Point are spectacular. There is an extensive trail system that starts from this multiple trailhead. Bus service is provided from the valley to Glacier Point; then a person has the option to either walk back to the valley or take the bus after hiking one of the trails in the area.

I just read about the existence of a photo-by-photo guide online for soon-to-be Half Dome hikers. I checked it out and thought it was nicely done. It should be an excellent starting point if you're planning to do Half Dome. He calls himself mr.fozzie (funny), but it's quite serious info about hiking Half Dome in Yosemite. I've completed Half Dome in 2002. It was awesome. Like mr.fozzie, I took the Mist/John Muir Trail simply because I wasn't too crazy about hiking UPHILL back to my car after an already-strenuous day. Have fun!

6th time on trail, 4th to the top. Matthew Piazza and I just hiked it on a Saturday. Do yourself a favor and hit this one up during the week. The cables were insanity. We had to go up on the outside or wait thirty minutes just to start in the line. Take a weekday off. I left the old pics, because I still miss my bro Eric.
