Thanks! How would you describe the trail and it's activities?

Mirror Lake is a 2 mile out and back trail located near Yosemite National Park, California and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking and is accessible year-round.

I walked this trail in February 2012. There wasn't any snow. The trail is paved and easily walked. There was a person in a wheel chair managing the trail without any problems. Yosemite runs a shuttle bus year-round that stops at the trail head. There is a public restroom about a quarter of a mile in from the trail head. The photo opportunities and views are numerous and fantastic! The trail follows the river leading from Mirror Lake. When you get to Mirror Lake you get to see the back side of Half Dome reflected in it's surface and arching against a bright blue sky. Since I was there in February, there were no crowds. Even so, the trail was popular and I usually had the company of one or two other hikers on most parts of the trail. At one point, 5 female deer walked across the trail from the river and continued into the woods. They did not seem too concerned that we were there and allowed us to take several photos. Although you can hike this trail easily in an hour, you might want to allow yourself a bit longer to fully enjoy the scenery and take advantage of all the photo opportunities. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this hike.

Hiked this just after a huge winter storm closed the valley for a few days. Few people and lots of snow. Did it in hiking boots but some people used snowshoes.

I did this trail with my kids it was completely breath taking... The views I mean, the trail was pretty easy even for an out of shape recent ex- smoker like myself. I am certain that if I can do it almost anyone can. When you get to the upper portion of the lake there is a calm peacefulness that is unparalleled anywhere else. Just up a few more steps is a very interesting display of rock formations, people have been leaving piles of rocks behind for years. It is almost creepy to walk through them... Carefully, the combination of silence and peacefulness and these rocks, is very ... different, it reminds me of an Indian burial ground or something. Very cool to check out while you are up there.

Very easy hike for all ages and abilities. Most of the trail is paved for vehicle access for visitors that are disabled. The easy 20 minute hike gives you a great view of Half Dome and Mirror Lake. I advise going early in the year preferably before July as the lake does seem to dry out.

We hiked this last week of May 2008. It is very nice! Though you must be careful of which trail to hike as we hiked the horse trail(before the bridge) which is not as easy as the paved trail after the bridge.

Regarding handicapped access, you can drive up to the lake if you have a handicapped license plate or placard. "Hiking" around the loop may require assistance though.
