The road up to the trail is more of a hike than the actual hike. Good, quick and easy trail with great views at the top. The whole hike, up and down, only took about an hour.

Our hike was on February 12, 2016. This was a bit more strenuous than we expected. But that was mostly due to the fact that we had to hike the two miles up Hurricane Mountain Road, which was closed for the season and covered with several inches of fresh snow.

As you might imagine, we encountered a few snowmobile riders on the trail. So be mindful in the winter that the trails are shared with other outdoor enthusiasts. And keep your ears open.

It was a cold but clear day. So we enjoyed a beautiful hike along the Black Cap trail, which had a firm snow pack due to the snowmobile riders who appear to have made several runs that day.

It took us nearly two hours for our ascent starting at the gate on Hurricane Mountain Road up to the top. Where we took a few minutes to enjoy the views and reward ourselves with a quick snack of trail mix.

The return trip was a breeze. Taking just one hour for the 3+ miles. Be careful of the icy stretches especially on the way down along the steep tracks. Overall a great hike. We're looking forward to trying the other trails, preferably during foliage season in the Fall.

Lots of fun! Great views at the top. Gate was closed so needed to walk two miles up the road before starting, but still finished the whole thing in about 3 hours. Moderate, need good shoes.

Quick hike if you only have a few hours. Easy to moderate hike requiring good footwear. Good for kids. Many ledges on top for different views. In the far distance you can see Mt Washington on a clear day. Foliage starting to turn. Will have very nice views once leaves have all turned.

First 2/3 of the trail is an easy uphill walk. Next part is rocky. Last part is rock.

Stunning views of mount Washington valley.

Took us about 35 minutes to ascend.

Drive up Hurricane Mountain Road was interesting.
