Not a trail at all, just a paved path, but the view from the top is really spectacular. 360 degree view! I was lucky to go on a clear day and see every mountain up to 40+ miles away. Amazing. Worth seeing. Not hard at all as it is a paved path.

Nice to see , but it's not a hike .. It's a steep parking lot with nice views

Quite the quad burner, but worth the effort! The clouds were VERY heavy, today, so I saw absolutely nothing, in the way of views/scenery. And, make it a point to go early...the later in the day, the more swarms of people, and difficulty parking. It was a simple climb, so I'll definitely be back, hopefully on a day where there will be less Smoke in the air. :-)

Definitely worth checking out for the views alone, I don't give this trail a 5/5 because it's extremely 'touristy.' There are so many people, and they are so loud. The trail is a paved steep half mile uphill, nothing to it, just your classic truck stop trail. The drive in was pretty cool; nice country. Just make sure your brakes are in good shape.

The Clingman's Dome approach trail is a short, half-mile trek from a visitor parking lot to the top of the highest point in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

From the top, visitors are treated to some of the best views in the Smokys via a high tower on top of the mountain.

The trail is paved, easy to climb and is not too strenuous. Visitors to the park should definitely check out this attraction as the views up and down the trail are spectacular.

This trial is the easier part... I did the 7 miles leading up to this. This section of the trail is a nice hike for all different age groups.

I did this over a year ago when we drove the Blue Ridge Parkway end to end and a whole bunch of little hikes along the way. This was one of the most memorable.

Really cool view from this observation tower at the highest point in TN. Highly recommend getting out to see this one especially if you're coming off of the AT in the winter time when the access road is closed. We had the whole place to ourselves but either way the 360 view offered from the tower is one of the best you will get in the smokies!

Beautiful views. Gradual incline. Paved and spacious trail (no threat of losing your balance). Once at the top, I suggest going all the way up to the observatory tower. I'm deathly terrified of heights, but the views are spectacular and you'll not want to miss this. Family-friendly and easy. Hold small one's hand though, it is still a trail.

Beautiful view at the top BUT not an easy walk up. It is paved from the parking lot to the top but it is there are steep inclines up.

Worth the long drive and even more enjoyable if you time sunrise when being at the top. It was 70 degrees in Gatlinburg but saw snow at the top. Another interesting fact is that the Appalachian trail crosses the top which we used to explain to our kids about the Maine to Georgia hike by walking several miles of it. They loved being able to tell their friends that they hiked a portion of it. It's also interesting to see all the AT trail hikers gather as its a popular spot for taking a break and getting rides to town to re-supply. Many good stories talking to the hikers making the long journey which sparked interest in our kids. Like everything, you get out of it what you put into it. The view is amazing as long as it's not foggy.
