Completed this hike on 4/3/13. About 3/4 the way up, I had to trek through deep, fast melting snow! Come prepared! Depending on the weather, I would say itll be clear mid May.

My 4 year old daughter and I love this hike! Well maintained trail. Along the way you see streams, waterfalls, views and once you reach the top there is a lake surrounded by mountain sides. Absolutely beautiful!

One of my favorites so far. Not the most grueling trail but it breaks a really good sweat. But the end is very well worth it.
If you early enough you can avoid the popularity that spikes in the afternoon. And there is a rigorous switchback at one point that needs a sure footed person. But, the lake is worth it all.

Did this hike in early October. This is a moderately difficult hike that has a nice payoff at the end. I was a little turned off by the number of people this late in the season. The most difficult portion of the trail is a section of switchbacks through scree. A real ankle twister coming down. It doesn't help that this section isn't shaded.

The lake is pretty nice and there is a little loop trail around it. Some of the boardwalk is on rough condition. I imagine this trail is more interesting in late spring/early summer while there is still a lot of snow in the cirque.

Decent easy hike although you will run into a lot of people. Really wish you were allowed to camp there. The lake is the bluest thing I've ever seen. Some amazing waterfalls on the way as well.

Probably my favorite, despite the grueling switchback on sharp rocks near the end. Lake 22 is breathtaking.

like it better than heather lake although i prefer heather lake (the lake) over lake 22. . .the water features on the way up to lake 22 more than make up for the lake's minimal shortcomings. not too strenuous, but rockier than i expected. and busier. holy beheezus we ran into a TON of people. what was i thinking going in a sunday?!? will definitely be going back. . .just on a weekday, i think.

It's a beautiful trail, with a really neat bridge over a fairly good sized waterfall. There are a few switch backs and its a little challenging for kids, but well worth it. Our son has done this trail at age 4 and up. The lake is crystal clear and gorgeous!
