Castle Peak Trail

Completed this trail on April 19th 2015. I started the trail near Bell Canyon Road. Finding the trail head from the road was not very easy but just use common sense and you will be alright.

I found the trail head and I noticed it somewhat over grown. Certain sections have brush beginning to cover the trail but for the most part it is very managable. A lot of bugs. I have bug stray I use before I start trails. I highly recommend it.

The hike up is strenuous but manageable. At the top there are other trails that appear but again use common sense and you will find the way to the view.

Definitely check this out... Cave isn't that big but still is neat & catching the sunrise on top of the highest ridge was a great sight.

I loved this hike. We actually did it in reverse by accident. We started at castle peak and climbed down to the cave. It was steep and challenging. Took us a good 4 hours. Beautiful views with lots of climbing!

Pretty easy trail but still some good hills. As a beginner I struggled on some of the steeper climbs. I would recommend taking a second look at the map before you go out. The turn to make the trail a loop is an easy miss!

Nice little walk, beautiful views but everything is so dry right now. We must have walked down the wrong trail because we didn't loop around and we had to walk back.

I'm so glad we decided to come here because come on it's caves! It does require some climbing, but not much experience is required. Also, if you're extremely afraid of heights this might not be the best path for you. Starting from Vanowen, get on the trail and stay on the main one until you pass the fence, then take the first trail to the right and keep going up and you'll hit the caves. Keep climbing up the caves and you'll be on top of the hills, where you'll eventually get to castle peak. Make sure you wear good shoes that have grip on the bottom and make sure you wear a hat. There's very little cover on the top.

Awesome place for photo ops, and just an enjoyable hike that isn't too long. We took 2 hours to hike this loop, only because we took a lot of pictures. If we really wanted to barrel through it, we probably could have been done in 1 hour.

I would definitely park on Vanowen, and enter the trail from there. If you are wanting to get to the cave, stay left of the main trail until you reach the break in the fence, and then go right. There are lots of other trails that break off to the right beforehand. Be careful going up, as the trail basically becomes a foot deep of dust. Make sure to wear good shoes, as the cave floor gets dusty as well. Bring a flashlight or tea candles for inside the caves. It was so awesome, and I can't wait to go back!

First off recommend to start from the Vanowen side/neighborhood street parking side for better access if you just wanna check the caves out. Awesome outdoor views from within the cave. For those having a few extra hours try climbing up and going down the ridge from the cave. o yea bring a flashlight. Happy trails-!

A lot of scrambling and no clear trail for the middle of the hike, but an awesome experience and some great views! I definitely recommend it if you're not afraid of off-roading.
