Rim trail is nothing special. The gorge trails is the one you want, brings you really close to the falls.

Hike was great, beautiful scenery. The hike back down did get a little steep but other than that it was amazing.

The waterfalls are beautiful. The trail is amazingly nice and forested. In spite of how busy it was it was still pretty tranquil. Went up the rim trail and down the gorge trail. It was nice to see the splendor of the views on the way down.
Bring water. Bring a camera and a tripod.

Lots of steps which I felt the next day but worth it. My first hike ever and am planning my future ones now. I had a great day on these trails and Lucifer Falls were breathtaking!

A friend and I just hiked this trail start to end and back to start, during late March. The campus section is a patchwork of natural areas and civilization, but it gets a bit more wild as it goes. It passes through a variety of different ecosystems/topographies, and there are a couple spots with pretty nice views. There are also some points where the routing of the trail feels a bit arbitrary and unnecessary. The trail is pretty well blazed in most spots, but having the map and/or directions can be a helpful backup. There are no bathrooms or places to get water (except for the Plantations Visitors Center).

This is our favorite hike in CNY. Absolutely LOVED it. It kept getting better as we walked deeper. The stairs at the beginning were pretty steep but once you got past them the rest was smooth sailing. LOVE!!!
