You can go the raptors center or go horse back riding. The trails are also dog friendly but leashes are required!! Still a great day trip for anyone! Latta Plantation Trail by Robert Reed (96) 10 months ago 6 Completed 3 Reviews Latta Plantation has a variety of intersecting trails, giving you a variety of options in both distance and scenery. Our hike took in portions of the Hill, Split Rock and Cove Trails for a total distance of 5.4 miles. The Hill Trail is essentially a gravel service road to give the power company access to power lines. The Split Rock trail takes you into the woods for a cooler and more remote stroll. The cove trail follows a portion of the Mountain Island Lake shoreline. Recent heavy rains left a few sections of the Cove Trail flooded out, but it was not difficult to find an alternate route around the water. Exposed roots and some fairly rocky conditions demand that you pay attention to your footing and might make a hike difficult for some. Park at the Latta Plantation Nature Center parking lot, where you can pick up a map, then follow the connector trail to the hill trail, which will take you out to the other, intersecting trails. There is no cost. All in all, this is a nice, quick getaway from the urban atmosphere of nearby Charlotte. Northmeck Park by Troy DeCoud (100) 11 months ago 2 Completed 1 Reviews I'm going with 4 stars because I'm a beginner and it had enough thrills and challenges without being overwhelming. Latta Plantation Trail by Felicia & Jeff Archer (177) over 1 year ago 3 Completed 2 Reviews Very beautiful place, and has great scenery against the water. Horses are allowed on the trails, so if youre not horse friendly, or mind the poop on the trails, this may not be the best place for you. But it is a great place to feel a burn and be able to jog steadily! Wonderful spots to sit and relax on some trails too. Northmeck Park by Ivan Whitfield (436) almost 2 years ago 5 Completed 1 Reviews Good Mtb trail with sections of great. Constant elevation change gets a bit annoying but you have options for cutting out of sections you don't like. Full loop I'm getting is 2.7 not 4? Might be missing a tag loop or something. Northmeck Park by Aaron Oosterbaan (499) almost 2 years ago 7 Completed 4 Reviews Great beginner mountain biking trail close to multiple cities, but not too crowded. Northmeck Park by Nathan Smith (354) almost 2 years ago 4 Completed 2 Reviews Decent trail watch out for runners though. Pretty easy. Latta Plantation Trail by Willium Smith (67) about 2 years ago 2 Completed 2 Reviews I enjoy the trails. The day I went was nice and it wasn't too busy. Hills can be difficult. Latta Plantation Trail by Melanie Kirdasi (667) over 2 years ago 23 Completed 20 Reviews Multitude of trails with a nice variation,at no cost. The raptor center is a nice place to visit for the fee,as well as the old home site. Horse rides are available and reasonably priced, large selection of horses. The facilities are nice and clean, love the heated bathrooms right off the kayaking point.
