Best trails in Tarra-Bulga National Park
Tarra-Bulga National Park is located in the south Gippsland region of Victoria. The park is covered in eucalypt, ash and fern forests that make it a beautiful place to hike, discover unique flora and watch birds. The park in the Tarra Valley was named after the Indigenous Burra Burra man Charley Tarra, who guided Count Pawel Strzlecki on an early expedition in 1840 of this region of the Gippsland. The park can be visited year-round as each season brings its own features. During spring wildflowers will be in bloom along with new forest growths, the shady forest gullies are a great retreat from the summer heat, in autumn you'll find a great diversity of fungi sprouting and in winter the forest because magically and misty with rapidly cascading mini waterfalls scattered throughout the park.

This area of lush green forest comes alive and feels almost magical after rain. The trail can get busy occasionally, so if you want more space, head out early. You will reach the suspension bridge; the popular feature of this loop overlooks the rainforest and is great for taking in the views and watching birds frolic in the forest.

The trail begins from the Bulga Picnic Area off Grand Ridge Road near the town of Balook. The trail itself is good to walk on and offers some fantastic views up to the top of Mount Tassie, where you'll be overlooking Traralgon and Loy Yang. The Corrigan Suspension Bridge is also worth checking out while you're in this area, located near the Bulga Picnic Area.

This out-and-back section to Cyathea and Tarra Falls is on wider tracks and includes some gravel sections.

This is the shortest circuit trail, taking you out to see the bridge and back. The loop begins and ends at Bulga Picnic Area, which is an excellent spot for a picnic or BBQ. Enjoy making your way through the shade of the lush green tree fern forest, and the view from the bridge is even more spectacular. Longer trails are available in the area if you want more.
