Best trails in Øvre Dividal National Park
Øvre Dividal National Park boasts a diverse landscape, featuring lush pine and birch forests, soaring mountains, serene lakes, and sprawling marshes. The park is predominantly made up of open plains that gradually rise into rounded mountain peaks. In the valleys, you'll find extensive birch forests, while the lower regions are rich with ancient pine trees, some estimated to be up to 500 years old.
The park’s highest elevation is Kistefjell, standing at 1,632 meters above sea level.
This varied environment serves as a habitat for a wealth of mountain vegetation, rare fungi, and unique lichens, as well as specialized insect species. Notably, the Arctic fox breeds in this area. Each spring, reindeer herders move in, following the natural migration of reindeer toward the calving grounds located in the heart of the park.
