As the name suggests, it encompasses a group of continental islands covered in lush rainforests and woodlands that were discovered by Captain Cook. It is also surrounded by coral reefs, tidal flats and why sand beaches, which explains why the park is part of the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area. It is thus a great place to hike, spend some time on the beach, swim and snorkel.
