Noosa National Park is situated along the South East coast of Queensland and highlights some of the most pristine and dramatic beaches and coastline in the region. Originally declared as a national park in 1939, the 3,000ha of Noosa National Park continue to provide a needed sanctuary for the native landscape, flora, and fauna, especially as development increases around the coast. The park includes the especially noteworthy areas of Noosa Heads, Lake Weyba, and Emu Mountain. The characteristic landscape here consists of open woodlands, rainforest, wetlands, heathlands, and dramatic coasts. There is plenty of wildlife to be seen across the varying environments in the park, including black cockatoos, parrots, koala, and red goshawks. In spring find blooming wildflowers like swamp orchids and Christmas bells. The coastal environment lends itself well to picnics and swimming on the many beaches, but visitors can stay occupied with many other activities from hiking and walking to fishing and snorkeling. The scenery and views on Noosa Heads, especially areas like Hell's Gates and Devil's Kitchen, are must sees.
